2017 Elections: Kibaki’s kin joins politics, wants to become a governor

A relative of the former President Mwai Kibaki has declared his interest in Laikipia’s gurbernatorial seat.

Ndiritu Muriithi the former assistant minister for industrialization in Kibaki’s government questioned governor Joshua Irungu overĀ  the county’s high wage bill. Currently Laikipia county receives more than Sh4.5 billion, much of which goes into paying salaries.

Ndiritu contested for the same post in 2013 on a UDF but slightly lost to Joshua Irungu who had an NGO background. Ndiritu Muriithi says that he will back President Uhuru in 2017. He is is running on a platform of education and empowerment.
