Gospel musicians have been on the receiving end of things of late, not many are happy with the current gospel music state in Kenya.
There have been a string of complaints on the content of the genre which many believe is deteriorating by the day.
But who can blame them with the never ending controversies by Willy Paul and Bahati, the top gospel artists in the country. The two are always being criticised for their music which leans more towards the secular side.
Perhaps that explains why secular artists are now rushing to the gospel world in droves with some managing to outshine their gospel counterparts with marvelous praise tunes after deciding to experiment with the genre.
Artists like Sauti Sol, and rappers Nyashinski and Collo have released gospel songs that have done pretty well.
Now, Singer Wahu is following suit and is trying to take her secular prowess to gospel after announcing recently that she’s working on a gospel song.
She took to Instagram to share hints of the song which is already complete and are now working on the video, which is being overseen by the Churchill Show director J blessing.
“Can’t wait for you guys to listen to this Wahu’s Gospel #jblessingflick,” a post by J blessing says on social media. Wahu on the other hand said: “Outchea trying to spread some sunshine. Happy Monday fam.”
