Masinde Muliro University of science and technology has closed indefinitely after students boycotted exams. The university had slated exams for Tuesday but the students were not happy with the idea of doing exams leading to the unrest.
In a notice to all the students, the University blamed the riots on a well-orchestrated plan to stop the examinations, the notice signed by Acting Registrar Caroline Onyancha stated that: “All students are hereby informed to clear and vacate the University premises immediately but not later than 11:00am today, the 12th day of April 2016.”
Masinde Muliro’s closure comes just a week after University of Nairobi was also closed indefinitely following students’ unrest over the disputed SONU elections. 62 students have since been suspended over the chaos.
