This past Saturday (July 29), Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ICT Acting Director Chris Msando was reported missing by his wife who said she waited for him at home the previous night but he never showed up.
His wife reported the matter at Embakasi police station which was followed by an official statement by the commission’s Chairman Wafula Chebukati on social media that they were working with police to locate Msando.
Msando is one of only a few people at IEBC who know where the poll body’s computer servers are and had been scheduled to demonstrate a test run on Monday, July 31, on how the relaying of results would be done on election day.
According to reports, his last communication was at around 3am on Saturday, July 29, when he texted one of his colleagues reminding them of their schedule for the day. That was the last time he communicated to anyone.
The story has however taken a different turn after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, took to social media with claims that he had located the missing director to a lover’s home off Thika Road.
A Facebook post by the controversial legislator on the wee hours of Monday, July 31, shows a picture of him standing next to a Land Rover Discovery carrying the registration plates KCB 262Q, one that he alleges belongs to Msando.
“So this is Chris Musando’s vehicle right now here at Roysambu. The idiot is enjoying sweet time with a woman. And the story was that he is privy to ‘rigging’ and he can’t be found. Verily, verily I say unto you Raila. You will not burn this country. Not when I am alive,” the Facebook post by Kuria reads.
