Machakos gubernatorial aspirant, Wavinya Ndeti has lately become an internet favorite. Let’s admit it, in one way or another, she spices up the politics in Machakos. She is vocal and capable to even snatch the seat away from incumbent, Alfred Mutua, but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves though August is almost here. She has shaken up and lightened up the former dim Machakos political scene. Wavinya is one candidate to watch out for this election period.
That said, Wavinya is famous in the internet circles for her quotes which can fill a whole handbook. A while back after being cleared to vie in the August elections after a grueling court battle, triumphant Wavinya in her speech erred in Swahili proverb that immediately sparked reactions from the Internet.
Wavinya mis-qouted famous proverb, “yaliyopita sindwele tugange yajayo”, which means one should not dwell on the past but focus on the future, she instead said, ‘yaliyo ndwele sipite.” Kenyans known best for their creativity immediately begun the Wavinya challenge on social media.
Well tuns out Kenyans are not done with Wavinya’s proverb after one Kenyan, MC Njaggy, recently unveiled a song featuring the proverb.
MC Njaggy heavily adds a Kamba accent to lyrics which entails a string of Swahili proverbs including Wavinya’s “yaliyo ndwele sipite” alongside kamba beats. Honestly this is a danceble song.
