The suspected hijacker of an Egypt Air airliner has surrendered to authorities at Larnaca airport in Cyprus according to officials.
The hijacker, identified as Seif EL Din Mustafa who is said to be an Egyptian emerged from the aircraft with his hands in the air.
According to Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, the middle aged hijacker had asked to meet European Union officials or to fly on to another airport. “At some moments he asked to meet with a representative of the European Union and at other points he asked to go to another airport but there was nothing specific,” he said.
With jubilation Cyprus’s foreign ministry said in a tweet that it’s over.
