A local publication recently started a rumour that TV personality Betty Kyallo was unverified by social media platform Twitter.
In the story, the local daily reported that Twitter unverified the sassy KTN presenter’s account shortly after dropping her ex-husband Dennis Okari’s name.
“Dark shadow of ex-husband looms as Twitter unverifies Betty Kyallo’s account,” the headline by Nairobi News read.
According to Twitter policy, a verified user who changes their name stands to lose the coveted verification blue badge.
The badge is given to influential users in order to let people know that it is their real account and not one that belongs to impersonators.
But Betty came out to responded to the claims via a tweet that was seen by Zipo.co.ke, she revealed that her account wasn’t and had never been verified.
She said the allegations that she got unverified after changing her name was a blatant lie.
Through the tweet which came up the same day the daily published their ridiculous claim, Betty slammed the outlet for writing a story that was so thin with facts.
“I know you are hungry for gossip but my Twitter account has never been verified. Can the ‘news’ part of your trade at least be credible?” Betty tweeted.
