Tanzanian President John Maghufuli Pombe has ordered the ban of Brokside Dairy milk from its operations in his country.
This came just days after Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohamed was setting a deal to reduce and lift trade restrictions between the two countries.
The Kenyan government had previously banned gas imports through Tanzania in a bid to eliminate illegal cooking gas and ensure safety and security risks.
Maghufuli’s government also acted immediately by imposing restrictions on milk and milk products and cigarettes manufactured in Kenya.
Among the banned products were President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family-owned Brookside Dairy Milk. Also New KCC, cigarette manufacturer BAT, all the cement makers, Bidco Oil Refineries and Vivo Lubricants which markets Shell lubricant brands were banned.
