Kenyans are known to have a liking for either free or cheap things. A few years ago when quail business was throbbing everyone jumped in and bought the small birds.
The next minute the small birds were selling at a very low price. The craze about the quail business had vanished as fast as it came.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, Sportpesa wave swept the country and football lovers jumped into the craze. The Sportpesa game has had its fair share of dramas here and there. It has seen people of all walks of life participating.
A student from Kabianga University hanged himself after losing all his tuition fees to Sportpesa. Edwin Mogaka was found hanging from a tree in a small thicket near the University. It is alleged that he lost a bet during Chelsea Versus Liverpool match where Chelsea was beaten 3-1.
Last month, a man committed suicide after losing Sh. 45,000 which was a loan they had acquired together with the wife for purposes of developing a family project.
In another incidence, a worker in a bank lost Sh. 450,000 which he and the wife had borrowed from the Equity bank.
