Florence Kajuju, Meru Women Representative revealed how leaders from the parliament go around rewarding their girlfriends with positions in the Senate, National Assembly and the County Assemblies.
During her speech while addressing aspiring female MCAs in Meru, Kajuju blamed the nominations which gave positions to women who were incompetent and lacked commitment.
“The nominations pull back the drive to increase the number of elected women leaders because the nominated did not have the ambition to lead.”
Florence Kajuju also said that the current regulations were unable to prevent Male leaders from rewarding their friend and urged that the law to address such issues with great concerns.
This claim by the Meru Women Representatives came shortly after the ongoing discussion of two-third majority rule in parliament.
The aim of this regulation is to ensure gender balance in parliament and other public offices.
