Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is unhappy with the way ICC was arm twisted by the Kenyan government to release DP Ruto and Joshua Sang. The Cord leader castigated the International Criminal Court for failing to prosecute those implicated the 2007/08 post-election violence that left 1,100 people died and more than 600,000 displaced.
Raila, who was speaking to AFP in France, lashed out at Africans states for being the worst violators of human rights and faulted the decision to pull out of the ICC.
“This decision spells doom for the international justice system and fight against impunity. No African head of State needs to fear being tried by the court because you can destroy the evidence, you can kill witnesses.” Said Raila
The opposition leader said that it would be suicidal for Africans nations to pull out the ICC as they lacked proper mechanism to deal with crimes against humanity.
Kenya has led a high-profile campaign against the court among African nations, accusing it of bias against the continent.
“There is no alternative mechanism in Africa to deal with these cases and second, Africa needs ICC more than any part of the world,” he added
