Renown media personality, Julie Gichuru, who quit television after gracing our screens for many years, has spoken for the the first time about the long standing claims that she was in an abusive relationship.
Julie Gichure was poster child when it comes to TV anchoring, many would be journalists worshiped her, and the viewers were in love as well, what with her beauty, eloquence and all.
But as her reputation grew in leap and bounds, so did interest about her personal life by Kenyans who keenly followed her on her show “Sunday Live”. Yes, the show existed long before Hussein Mohamed. I’m certain you remember the ‘Who Owns Kenya’ segment when she hosted it.
Julie, is famously married to a royalty in the Kenyan business sphere. Her husband Anthony, is the son of billionaire James Gichuru, the former head at Kenya Power. They have several children together including adopted ones.
There have been online gossips that Anthony is a wife batterer and Julie was suffering in silence. That she hid all that with a permanent smile while on air.
Years later, since the rumors first came out, Julie Gichuru has finally put to the allegations to rest.
Speaking during a sit-down with Kalekye Mumo on K24‘s Talk Central, Julie, 43, rubbished the claims of physical abuse at any point in her relationship.
According to her, her relationship has never escalated to the point of violence because she has a certain way of dealing with issues with her husband.
“I don’t believe we should bring up children in an environment where they see all this kind of stuff. By the way I am vocal. Me and my husband will have fights. We will discuss stuff like any other couple, but there will always be respect and regard. So no, he has never (beaten me ).” She said.
