The Commander in Chief of the Armed forces President Uhuru Kenyatta has made major change in the police department days ahead of the general elections.
24 senior police officers have been transferred to other locations. This is to ensure that no officer in charge of any region will promote any form of violence during the election period and instead live up to the oath of protecting the people and serving all.
Central police chief Larry Kiyeng has been transferred to Mombasa while Mombasa’s chief police officer has been allocated to Embu region. The reshuffle has taken place i Eastern as well, Baringo County, Nairobi and Uasin Gishu.
Speaking to the press Inspector General National Police Service Joseph Boinett said that the reshuffle is due to the preparation of the general election and the security of the country.
