Centum Investment chief executive James Mworia is perhaps unknown to many Kenyans but the man managing the multi-million mega company has emerged a corporal name after it turned out that he is Kenya’s best paid manager with an annual income of Sh201.1 million or Sh16.7 million monthly, according to the latest financial reports.
The salary which includes a performance bonus, places Mworia ahead of well established figures including Safaricom and East African Breweries Limited CEO’s.
Mworia’s income was disclosed in Centum’s latest annual report. The 39-year-old CEO has mainly benefited from his company’s generous bonus scheme that rewards employees for growth in shareholder funds in the company.
Similar reports show that executive directors including the Equity bank’s CEO, James Mwangi, earned average monthly pay of Sh15.9 million in December 2015.
Safaricom’s CEO Bob Collymore and former chief financial officer John Tombleson took home an average monthly pay of Sh10.7 million in the same year, placing them fourth in the list of top CEO earners.
