The son of a Member of Parliament is now begging the court to rescue him from the tough life he has been experiencing in jail after being handed a death sentence.
Mafanikio Mwanyoha, son of Matuga Member of parliament Hassan Mwanyoha, has been languishing in prison after he was found guilty of robbing a tourist violently.
Mwanyoha was sentenced to death in April 2016 alongside his co-accused and accomplice Ali Hassan.
The MP’s son on Monday urged the Mombasa High Court to speed his appeal as he was suffering in prison. His appeal was set to be heard on September 5th but was adjourned due to a file missing in court, a statement said to be false but was adjourned as the secretary assigned to to type the proceedings of lower court is on leave.
The accused were charged before a Kwale court for attacking and violently robbing a Polish tourist, Peter Schadowsky, in Diani.
Mwanyoha and Ali Hussein were accused of stealing, while armed with a knife, an LG mobile phone, a pair of spectacles, a bag, five credit cards and a company ID card with a total value of Sh14,625.
