Zimbambwe President Robert Mugabe who has ruled the country since gaining independence lost his cool tempers and threatened to punch down a journalist.
President Mugabe who says that he will rule until he is 100 years, was in a live broadcast when a journalist asked him about his retirement plans.
To show that he is fit, Mugabe responded to the journalist by asking the journalist why he need a successor “Why ‘successor’ when I am still there?” “Why do you want a successor? Do you want me to punch you to the floor to realize I am still there?”
President Mugabe also denied the allegations that he is trying to coach the wife to inherit the seat adding that they do not inherit since according to him Zimbambwe is a democratic country; he added that succession is not part of Zimbabwean culture.
The 92 year old president who is the world’s oldest president celebrated his lavish birthday which did cost the country close to 1 million dollars with 50,000 guests. President Mugabe is not new to controversy, last year after a press conference he stumbled and nearly fell down.
Born Robert Gabriel Mugabe, he studied in Zimbabwe and South Africa. He later went on to acquire two masters from the University of London External programme.
The wife to Mugabe who was his secretary left her husband to marry Mugambe lives a lavish life, in one instance she is reported to have gone to France capital for shopping which was worth USD 120,000.
