Former Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru seeks police protection claiming that her life is in danger.
In a letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet on 29th Feb, Waiguru mentioned that she was fearing personal attacks after receiving threats from influential politicians following an explosive affidavit linking powerful politicians to National Youth Service scandal.
She said, “Knowing Kenya’s political climate and the influence that these politicians command, I am naturally fearful for my life….”
The Police spokesman George Kinoti endorsed receipt of Waiguru’s letter but could not comment on action to be taken by the police headquarters concerning the threat issue.
In the letter, The former CS seeks for additional security citing that the investigations for those who had directly linked her name to the NYS saga are undergoing and that the mentioned may alter the processes meant to clear the CS name from the saga.
She said urged “I feel that unless I am issued with appropriate security arrangements, I stand a risk of being physically harmed. I am therefore requesting your office to issue me with appropriate security to forestall any possible attacks on me”
