Newly elect Governor Mike Sonko has recovered at least Ksh 7 million stashed at City Hall’s cash offices during an operation he conducted.
The Governor and his Deputy Polycarp Igathe carried out the operation on Wednesday after Tuesday’s collections failed to be banked by by the officers in charge. His promise to make Nairobi great Sonko has also ordered all county collections be banked by close of business every day to discourage corruption.
Also the use of CCTV cameras are expected to be installed in the cash offices. On his Twitter handle he posted, “Under my watch, City Hall will cease being anyone’s cash cow. We shall streamline revenue collection & management in line with the P.F.M Act,”
It’s unacceptable that yesterdays collections of Ksh 7 M (cash) were still with the cashiers by 11:00AM yet the bank is only 50 meters away pic.twitter.com/LOYtWOdudv
