On Tuesday, pastor Ng’ang’a’s followers were barred from entering the church during the lunchtime service due to the large debt the church had accumulated.
The church which is located along Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi was shut down indefinitely and their pastor James Ng’ang’a clamped over the Ksh 507,404 debt.
The hotel owners, hawkers and car park attendants at the premise were forced to vacate the building. One of Kidero’s men from City Hall said that pastor Ng’ang’a had called to inform him that he would send a representative to pay at least sh200,000 to reduce the debt.
Unfortunately, Ng’ang’a’s church was not the only targeted place, the officers made their way to Nakumatt supermarket branch and a Kenyatta University campus located on the avenue (Haile Sellassie). Nairobi Safari Club Annex on Koinange Street which houses Kengeles was also closed over non-payment of Sh1.5 million land rates.
