Uhuru Kenyatta named five of Simeon Nyachae’s family members to plum government positions.
Nyachae’s daughter Judy and son Kenneth Bitange Nyachae were appointed to the Export Processing Zone and the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority boards respectively.
Nyachae’s niece Violet Omwamba was appointed to the Lake Victoria South Water Services Board, while his nephew Christopher Ayienda was named board member at New Kenya Co-operative Creameries Limited.
Another nephew, Samwel Nyanchama, was appointed to the Energy Regulatory Commission Board. Nyachae’s elder son Charles is the immediate former chairman of the Constitution Implementation Commission (now in the Jubilee campaign secretariat) and is reported to be interested in becoming Kisii governor in the next election.
Another of Nyachae’s sons, Lee, is a big time contractor and was at the centre of retired President Kibaki’s campaigns and in 2013 joined President Kenyatta’s team.
Nyachae’s close friends Henry Obwocha, was appointed chair of the Privatisation Commission, while Walter Nyambati was named chairman of the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation, Robert Monda was appointed to the Board of the Kenya Accreditation Services.
Uhuru also appointed two brothers, Julius Sunkuli as a member of the Board of the Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation, and Andrew Sunkuli to be a member of the Lake Victoria South Water Services Board.
Susan Wakhungu, the sister of Environment CS Judy Wakhungu was also appointed as Executive chairperson Kenya Year Book editorial board.
Aden Duale’s brother in law -Korane was appointed member of the Coast Development Authority Board.
George Ayugi and His sister Rose Ayugi were also appointed to Govt parastatals. ..alongside Ole Ntimama’s daughter Leah and Kibaki’s daughter.
And many others.
It’s therefore clear that lucrative appointments are reserved for a few elite families and kenya is being ruled like a mornach. ..
Labourparty stands for equitable distribution of government appointments.. defending worker’s performance as a basis of appointments and not based on elitesism. . As a party we stand for justice in the labour market.. every Kenyan is equal and must be given an opportunity to serve this nation. .it’s a party that looks forward to ending this monopoly of elite families taking away the larger cake and leaving a small piece for the rest of Kenyans.
