Nigeria’s sensational artiste, Wizkid could face a jail term in Uganda after a court issued a warrant of arrest against him for making away with millions of shillings after a cancelled show.
A Ugandan court Friday issued a directive to have the artiste and his manager arrested before or on 16 January 2017.
The cancelled show was to take place on December 3 at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala to celebrate six years of being in operation.
Wizkid allegedly received Ksh 6 million performance fee, Ksh 500, 000 brokerage fee and Ksh 300, 000 per day accommodation fee. The breaching of the contract saw the organizer of the event, Face Tv sue the artiste in court.
Face Tv accumulated substantial expenses of over Ksh 30 million in hotel and flights bookings and advertisements. There were approximately 25000 fans who had bought the tickets to grace the show.
Wizkid was recently in the United States for medical reasons. However, according to the organizers, Wizkid could not take a flight from the U.S.A to Uganda due to “unavoidable circumstances”.
