On Thursday, August 17 President Uhuru Kenyatta made his first public appearance after the elections accompanied by newly elected Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.
The President toured the New Kenyatta Market alongside with other elected Nairobi leaders.
This happened after NASA took their move to pursue a petoition against the election results.
However on his part the President urged Kenyans to maintain peace and unity amongst themselves and continue with working towards building a better Kenya.
He was quoted: “ Leave us to sort our issues as leaders. Politics should not make you fight. When this market burns down it will not affect one community but all of you. I have seen all Kenyans doing business here. In this market, there are Kambas, Merus, Luos, Kikuyus and all Kenyan communities. Please continue living together peacefully. Be your brother’s keeper,”
