President Uhuru Kenyatta has unfollowed most of the people he had been following on his official Twitter account leaving only 11 accounts.
President Kenyatta who has been the most popular Twitter personality in Kenya based on the number of followers, was following more than 140 people but his following has suddenly shrinked to only 11.
The President has only retained United States President Barrack Obama, François Hollande of France, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japan’s Abe Shinzo.
Among the African Presidents, Mr Kenyatta now only follows Tanzania’s John Magufuli, Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari and head of the African Development Bank Akinwumi A. Adesina.
In Kenya, the President unfollowed everyone except First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu.
In 2015, Kenyatta became the first person in the country to hit one million followers and also became the second most followed African President behind Rwanda’s Paul Kagame.
The President has, however, overtaken Kagame and is currently followed by over 1.4 million people owing to his active interactions on social media.
