Protests and celebrations as Uhuru Kenyatta is declared Kenya’s 5th President

On the night of August 11 President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

This announcement was received differently from his supporters and his opponent’s supporters.

His stronghold in Central and Rift Valley celebrating throughout the night while NASA strongholds in Nairobi and Nyanza are said to have led violent protests leaving several people injured as police used teargas to disperse angry youths.

Before the announcement co-principal Musalia Mudavadi had announced that Raila be declared President following the incompetence and unjust ruling after IEBC failed to certain the hacking accusations.
