Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i in a statement yesterday declared a holiday for the Muslim community this Friday, August 1st.
The Muslim will be celebrating Idd-Ul-Adha every year. Matiang’i said that the country’s economy was affected during the election period reason why everyone else who is not from the Muslim religion to go to work as usual.
However a bill is underway in Parliament to address the matter and hopefully make the day a National public holiday.
In Uganda the day has been declared a national day to all citizens.
