The former cabinet secretary Ann Waiguru made headlines earlier this year when she was mentioned in the famous NYS scandal which saw the loss of over Sh. 700 million. Waiguru who denied the allegations yesterday caused a storm when she appeared before the committee that is investigating her.
Waiguru asked if there is any connection between the loss of the fund and questions she was getting from the board. It has now emerged that Waiguru instructed an events company to be paid Sh. 44 million shillings for an event which was already cancelled.
The shocking details were revealed by the director Youth Enterprise Development Fund Clement Ayungo when he appeared before the Parliamentary Investment Committee.
Mr Ayungo said that one Bruce Odhiambo instructed him to pay for the event “He (Bruce Odhiambo) told me he had received a call from Anne or State House, I can’t recall who but it was one of them, and told me to pay for the event which the minister had herself cancelled,”
