A number of youths seeking to be recruited in the KDF have in the past been turned away at the primary stages due to the nature of their teeth.
Many are left in disbelief after being turned away either because they have brown teeth, flat feet or missing teeth.
Such cases have been especially of candidates being turned away due to brown teeth have been widely reported especially in areas where water is high in fluoride such as Nakuru County, leaving many wondering how brown teeth would affect a recruit’s performance in his line of duty.
KDF Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Paul Njuguna disclosed why being turned away due to brown teeth is based on medical evaluation.
According to him, having brown teeth is a sign that an individual is not medically fit yet KDF makes it mandatory to be medically fit.
Brown teeth is a sign of too much fluoride in the bones which in turn makes them weak and fragile.
Apart from brown teeth, Col. Njuguna expressed that those with flat feet were turned away because, flat-footed people are medically not able to handle strenuous tasks in the military.
