On Monday afternoon, the President surprised many after making a surprise visit to a local nyama choma joint at Kenyatta market in Nairobi.
Although not much was known about the surprise visit, reports indicate that Uhuru spent a staggering Sh 21,000 on the delicacies that included 30kgs of Nyama Choma and soft drinks.
A kg of nyamachoma at the now famous “high high” joint goes for Sh500 and the President ordered 30Kgs totaling to Sh15,000. The remaining Sh6000 was spent on soft drinks bringing the total amount to Sh21,000 according to reports.
The President was accompanied by Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja among other leaders.
According to Patrick Muchiri, an attendant at the joint, the number of customers quickly doubled soon after Kenyatta departed, compelling them to double the amount of meat they normally order from 100 to 200Kgs.
Muchiri revealed that the visiting customers wanted to eat from the same joint as the President while others wanted to occupy the same position he did.
