When news that a form four student from a school in Ugunja in Siaya county was arraigned in court spread, many could not believe why he was arraigned in Court.
However, Byron Omondi, a student of Rambula Mixed Secondary School was arrested at his home in Kayombi village in Ambira following a tip-off from villagers that he had hidden a gun.
True to the villagers, the gun and the bullets were hidden under his bed. According to acting area assistant chief, Benard Onyango, Omondi returned to school after staying out following the completion of his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education studies years back.
Rambula deputy head-teacher Maurice Ooko said that Omondi has never been involved in any indiscipline cases except persistent absenteeism which he attributed to his children. It is said that the student is married with six kids.
