Two journalists from Royal Media Services and Nation Media Group were on Sunday morning roughed up by security guards from Kakuzi Limited based in Murang’a county.
Julius Kariithi of Inooro Fm and James Mburu of NTV were covering a protest where students were demonstrating against alleged grabbing of part of their school land by the company.
According to Kariithi, the guards took matters in their own hands after realizing they had been caught on camera harassing the rioting students from Gititu Secondary School.
The assaulted journalists recorded statements with the police over the attack. Several students were reportedly injured during the demonstrations.
