Being the daughter of one of the richest politician and the former Prime Minister, most people expect her to be a manager in one of her father’s many businesses or enjoying her father’s money in one of the expensive islands in the world but to the surprise of many, this is not the case with Rosemary Odinga.
Despite being educated in one of the best Universities abroad, Raila Odinga’s eldest daughter has decided to venture into farming… Unbelievable right?
Apparently, Rosemary is the only snail farmer in Kenya and she does her farming in an expansive farm located in Kiserian. She started snail farming back in 2007 after visiting former Nigerian President, Olesegun Obasanjo, who is also a snail farmer.
“I started this project as a hobby in 2007. I had gone to Nigeria where I had the privilege of visiting former Nigerian President Olesegun Obasanjo, one of the biggest snail farmers there. I felt very challenged,” She said in an interview.
Rosemary, who is a mother of two, supplies the snails to various high end hotels in town and she is smiling all the way to the bank as most of Kenyan youths complain of unemployment.
