The nation have woken up to a sad state after news spreading wide indicate that three people have been killed and several houses razed in suspected Al Shabaab attack at Maleli in Lamu County.
This is the latest incident in a series of attacks in the region by the terrorist group whose roots are in the neighbouring Somalia.
Just recently, on June 27, four pupils and four policemen lost their lives after their vehicle drove through an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the militants in Kiunga area.
Security agents had been forewarned of a looming Al Shabaab attacks within Kiunga area, Milihoi, after roughly 100 of them were spotted by locals.
A similar incident was reported in the area after Al Shabaab militants ambushed a passenger bus and a car at Nyongoro area in Witu, Lamu County. Three people reportedly died in the attack.
The incident happened on the Lamu-Garsen highway, according to a statement by police. Four other people were left nursing serious bullet wounds.
Also recently, a vehicle carrying a Principal Secretary was attacked in the area leaving her with bullet wounds. Her nephew died in the attack.
A major operation that has brought together KDF and the different police units is ongoing in the area but the onslaught by the terror group is yet to stop.
