We have come across information of what transpired prior to the death of Caroline Odinga, a teacher at Ugenya High School, who served as an IEBC deputy presiding officer in Siaya county.
The tutor’s lifeless body was found on Saturday, August 19, about 50 meters from her home and bore fatal wounds.
Kin of the late told journalists that she had left home to go and pick her son’s books the previous evening and that was the last time they saw her alive.
“I had previously overheard a conversation between her and another female presiding officer complaining about massive interrogation during their meeting with IEBC officials on Friday, August 18. That was the last time I saw her. Her phone was switched off and no other relative had heard from her. I believe she was abducted and killed but they dumped her near our home,” said deceased’s husband Mathias Otieno.
39-year-old Odinga had deep cuts all over her body; her face, neck and thighs and according to as report by the Standard, the body was moved to Sega Mission Mortuary as police launched investigations.
Early investigations say the late Odinga had been sexually assaulted by a number of people prior to her death. That her privates and left ear were wounded.
It is said that the deceased might have collected her allowances from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The commission Chair, Wafula Chebukati, mourned Odinga but his choice of words landed him in hot soup after noting in his message of condolence that she was a temporary employee.
A sizeable others raised their concerns on the many deaths being reported concerning IEBC employees who oversaw the August 8 elections.
Chris Msando who was until his death the ICT manager at the poll body, was laid to rest in his Siaya home on Saturday, even as investigations into his murder continues.
