Nation Media Group (NMG) is planning to scrap The Trend in the coming months, a source privy to ongoing discussions inside the Kimathi street based media house has revealed.
According to our source, who preferred to remain anonymous, NTV is planning to replace the show – which is said to be highest grossing local TV program – with a new one.
Early reports indicate that the new show is likely to adopt the same format as 10 over 10 which airs on Citizen TV and the host might be poached from a different media house.
The show titled Flip 360 will be a two hour-program and those involved in the discussions are said to be toying with the idea of keeping The Trend and moving it to a different day.
This new development, which has come one month after Larry Madowo quit as the host of The Trend, will definitely leave his fans with more questions than answers.
When Madowo announced that he was leaving the show on Friday, June 23, he said other engagements at NMG forced him to “close that tab.”
However, netizens did not believe his explanation and jumped to the conclusion that there were deep-rooted issues which the media house was trying to sweep under the carpet.
