Cord leader Raila Odinga was supported by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, MPs and other individuals said to be his bodyguards thus escaping unhurt when the podium he was addressing his Malindi supporters collapsed.
Cord stated that their leader had enough security around him and thanks to them baba did not hit the ground.

Immediately after the incidence he continued with his speech and now rebuking the devil for the incident.
He also attacked the Jubilee government for apparently harassing Joho and other opposition leaders.
Raila, and his co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula, were in Malindi to give support to their coalition members who had been instructed to record statements with the police.
