Tuskys Supermarket has closed it’s popular CBD branch, Tuskys Beba Beba after 11 years of operation.
In a statement revealing the reason of closure, the supermarket chain stated that Bank of Baroda, the building’s landlord, has sold it off to a developer who has decided to re-develop the property into smaller shops, occasioning the outlet’s closure.
“The Bank of Baroda has informed us that they have sold the property. The new owner has notified us of their intent to redevelop the property. Consequently, we have to close business on that location effective May 2,” the chain supermarket said in its’ statement.
As for the branch’s 104 employees, the supermarket has assured their absorption into its’ other outlets.
Dan Githua, the retailer’s chief executive, posted on Twitter;
“Tuskys’ family sad today to have to lose Beba Beba branch. It was much more than just a branch. Nostalgic!”
