Trouble In NASA After Uhuru reaps big as 45 ODM politicians join his bid

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja who is vying in the capital’s gubernatorial race on a Jubilee Party ticket, couldn’t hide his excitement on Monday, July 10, after 45 politicians from the National Super Alliance (NASA) joined his party.

According to a post on social media, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders were received while he was on tour of Kisii county which is considered a Raila Odinga stronghold.

Speaking at a press conference, the legislator welcomed the move by the politicians saying it was a big boost to Jubilee.

Today is a big day. I welcome all of you to the presidential campaign team. We are now confident President Uhuru will garner 70 percent of the vote compared to 2013’s 50.07% win,” said Sakaja.

The ODM defectors are largely nomination losers who were vying for Member of County Assembly seats as well as independent candidates in Kisii.

We vow to back President Uhuru during the August election in which he is facing off with Raila Odinga. We chose Uhuru because he has a good development record,” said the group.

This is happening less than a month before Kenyans go to the poll to elect their leaders in what is seen as a two-horse race between the incumbent President Uhuru and his nemesis Raila Odinga of the Opposition.

Kisii voted largely in favour of Raila in 2013 but the Jubilee claims to have made inroads in the region.
