Kaloleni Member of Parliament Gunga Mwiga caused drama with NTSA officers after his driver was arrested due to drunk driving during the Easter holiday.
The driver was apprehended by NTSA officials during a crackdown at Nyali bridge in Mombasa. Mwinga engaged the NTSA officers in a heated exchange of words while protesting the arrest.
“Are you pushing him? You are harassing this young man. Nonsense!” He was heard shouting
However, the officers stood their ground forcing the MP to admit that it was wrong for any motorist to drive while intoxicated, insisting that every driver was subject to the alcoblow test to ensure road safety.
Finally he admitted the mistake and co-operated with the officers.
