A fuel tanker driver on Friday surprised many after he went ahead to drive a truck that was burning in Matanya trading centre, Laikipia County.
Boniface Karanja had pulled over at a fuel station where he was emptying petrol, before the tanker caught fire sending shockwaves among locals in the area.
According to residents, the fire was caused by sparks of a charcoal stove from a nearby house.
On noticing the fire, Mr Karanja jumped into the truck to drive it away from the filling station, where it posed much danger but only managed to drive a short distance as petrol was still leaking from the truck and the fire was trailing behind.
Fortunately, he was able to jump off safely before the petroleum truck exploded and got engulfed in huge flames which caught power lines that were near that area.
