Kenyans miss the dramatic former first lady Lucy Kibaki. She was brave and did not mince her words when she wanted to say something. Lucy was loved and hated by Kenyans in equal measure.
In one instance that Kenyans might not forget soon is when she was at her highs- dancing to the Taunet Nelel during the promulgation of the new constitution.
Lucy Kibaki was earlier on in the news; she lashed the then Security minister George Saitoti after the Sachag’wan accident when over 100 people died. Mama Lucy was at it again when she raided a media house and when they called a press briefing together with Mwai Kibaki so as to clear the air about the former Presidents family.
The president told the nation that he is married to one wife- Lucy Kibaki. Fuming the former first lady was standing alongside her husband threatened to take those who would spread more lies about her family that she would take them to court.
During the press briefing, Lucy pressured the journalist to ask questions right there or never! Mrs. Lucy however shocked many Kenyans when she slapped Matere Keriri an undersecretary who was the master of the ceremony at a national event at the statehouse.
The master of the ceremony failed to refer her as First Lady Lucy Kibaki. Angry, Lucy Kibaki stood up and walked straight to him, slapped him and comfortably returned to her seat.
The master of the ceremony was whisked away and the video clip recorded by a Nation Media journalist was deleted by statehouse officials.
