It is the second time such a scenario is being witnessed after Joho was blocked to attend Uhuru’s commissioning of the Mtongwe Ferry in Mombasa – Uhuru had previously said the governor will be allowed to the SGR commissioning event on condition he should follow protocol since he is not an exception.
Joho had vowed to gatecrash the launch in Mombasa which the president is expected to make it the highlight of Jubilee Party’s development record
Images and posts that have fast gone viral on social media shows the Mombasa Governor trying to talk his way out of a tight ‘situation’ while surrounded by mean looking GSU officers.
Mombasa County Director of Communication, Richard Chacha confirmed the incident saying the GSU officers were acting on ‘orders from above’.
“It is true the governor has been blocked from accessing Miritini station. The security officers at the station said orders from above demanded that governor be barred from gaining entry into the station, where President Uhuru Kenyatta was presiding over the launch of SGR. Following the information, the governor left the station for his office,” Chacha said.
