Tiryo Sugar Mills has announced plans to construct a Kes 357.8 million sugar milling factory in Nandi County.

The building of 800 TCDs on a 20-acre site is required to produce 1,000 tonnes of cane per day (TCD).

Administrative offices, a store, restrooms, electricity, a septic tank connection, landscaping, a parking space, and walkways are a few of the features that will be built.

Two examples are drilling and installing water storage tanks.

An Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Study submitted to the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) shows that other facilities to be set up include a 45 KLPD Distillery and a 5 Megawatts CoGeneration Power Plant which will be incorporated in the future.

The proposed project's potential unfavourable direct, indirect, and major environmental and social consequences are identified and addressed in the ESIA.

Additionally, it will fulfil institutional and regulatory requirements outlined in the Environmental (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, 2003, as revised in 2019, and the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA), 1999, as amended in 2015.

The planned sugar mill would be situated in Kimwani, Nandi County, on L.R. No. 21959/4 (Part), which runs beside Nandi Hills-Kimwani Road.
