Safaricom has partnered with Britam to allow Kenyans to buy insurance covers from as littles as Kes 25 daily.
With Kes 25 daily, users will get a daily insurance benefit of Kes 15,000 for medical expenses, Kes 50,000 for accidental permanent total disability, and Kes 50,000 for funeral expenses, as well as 100MB.
Further, customers will be eligible for Kes 30,000 (medical expenses), Kes 100,000 (accidental permanent total disability), and Kes 100 (funeral cover).
“Through this partnership, we aim to reach out to millions of Kenyans who do not have access to insurance protection against various risks that can affect their livelihoods and well-being,” Evah Kimani, Britam’s Director of Partnerships and Digital, said.
All prepay, individual hybrid, and individual postpay clients will have access to Data Plus.

Plans for insurance will be available through the Safaricom app or USSD code. After that, Britam will send them a message confirming the cover.
Additionally, they will be able to start claims online using a USSD code and Britam's WhatsApp chatbot.
Upon submission of all required paperwork, all legitimate claims will be processed within five working days, and rewards will be paid to the mobile number associated with the bundle.
The chosen recipient will get the Accidental Death Benefit.
