The announcement by local MP Samuel Atandi that there will be no more fundraising for school development has given relief to stakeholders in education in the Alego/Usonga constituency.

To fully finance development projects in public schools throughout the region, the MP has reassured his constituents that his office, through the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), has adequate funding.

According to his statement, he will only organize fundraisers in the future for the advancement of women's and youth groups, medical expenses, and charitable causes, among other things, and not for improving school infrastructure.


According to Mr. Atandi, his office intends to establish a flagship project for schools in each ward, valued at Ksh—25 million, under the NG-CDF.

The lawmaker challenged the locals to start considering the school where the flagship project will be established after revealing that North Alego Ward has been designated to benefit in the upcoming fiscal year.

Speaking at the North Alego location, he announced that his office will also start a program to support Form Four graduates who aren't eligible for direct university admission to enroll in vocational training centers.

Before it was implemented, Mr. Atandi stated that they had a proposal and urged the public to consider it and provide input through public participation.
