Under the New Higher Education Funding Model, the Higher Education Loans Board has completed processing loans for TVETS and first-year university students.

As a result, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort of 2022 will be the first to gain from the funding model.

In a press release on Friday, November 3, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu urged students who had submitted funding applications to confirm that the bank information they provided on the loan application was accurate and current.

"The Higher Education Loans Board has finalized the processing of loans for First Year students in universities andTVETs under the New Higher Education Funding Model," the statement began.

The Higher Education Financing (HEF) Portal was introduced by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on July 31, 2023. Through this portal, students can apply individually for loans, bursaries, and scholarships as soon as they receive their admissions letters.

October 7 was the deadline for loan applications.

According to Machogu, the money will be transferred to the students' accounts at their respective universities on November 7, 2023.
