Loliwe Singer Zahara’s Awards and Guitar Arrive Home to Her Mother

Receiving the belongings of your child after their passing is a moment that no parent wishes to contemplate.

This is what Nokhanya Mkutukana, the mother of the late Bulelwa “Zahara” Mkutukana had to go through receiving the singer’s award trophies and her most loved item, her famous guitar.

Tragically, Zahara departed from this world eight days ago, on Monday, the 11th of December, in a private hospital in Johannesburg due to complications with her liver.

In the humble surroundings of Phumlani, an informal settlement located just a few kilometers from East London, the esteemed global sensation and multi-award-winning Zahara's musical honors were presented to her mother, Nokhanya.

Actress, radio presenter, and businesswoman Lusanda Mbane, along with two gentlemen carrying two boxes filled with Zahara's awards, brought the precious guitar of the Country Girl hitmaker to her family.

Zahara's guitar, a trademark for the late singer since her introduction to the South African public in 2011 with her popular song "Loliwe," held sentimental value for the artist.

Ever since her debut, Zahara has been a shining star whose talent has reached new heights. Her debut album Loliwe won her prizes at the 2012 SAMAs, including Best Female Artist and Album of the Year. In addition, she received numerous other honors with her second album Phendula, which garnered her Best Selling Album and Best Female Artist SAMA awards.

Lusanda gave the star's mother the guitar and the trophies as she entered Zahara's house carrying the instrument on her back. Sino Majangaza recorded the footage, which The Daily Dispatch, a news organization headquartered in the Eastern Cape, posted.
