As schools and individuals tried to access the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, there was a period of unrest and frustration for the better part of Monday morning.

Minutes, after the results were made public and instructions, were given by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu; the results could only be viewed via the KNEC website or directly at https://results.knec.ac.ke.

For the 2023 KCSE exam, one must input the candidate's index number and the name(s) corresponding to their registration information.

But Citizen Digital has proven that the website was down when publishing, and there have been complaints from irritated institutions.

The search returns the message "This site can't be reached" or "HTTP Error 400" when an attempt is made to access the website. The hostname requested is not valid.

A few candidates and educational institutions also said they could not access the website. A handful had gotten onto the website and browsed their findings.

The government announced that the 2023 KCSE results will not be accessible via SMS, the traditional method of receiving the results over the years, simultaneously with the website outage.



899,453 candidates took the exam; 450,554 were men, and 448,899 were women.

One thousand two hundred sixteen applicants received an A, 201,133 received a C+ or higher, 526,222 received a D+ or higher, and 48,174 received an E.
