Tuesday saw Canadian police looking into a shooting that occurred before dawn close to the massively gated home of famous rapper Drake.

Following the shooting, which occurred at 2:09 am (0609 GMT), according to the police, one man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

A suspect was believed to have fled the scene in a vehicle, and no description was offered.

On the edge of the road were several tiny orange markers that appeared to be shell casing locations.

After the incident, Drake's property was under police surveillance, according to public broadcaster CBC, and police sources claimed that the injured man was a security guard.

Additionally, Drake was not the person who was shot, according to a Tuesday morning report from local broadcaster CityNews.

Drake, a 37-year-old rapper best known for hits like "God's Plan" and "Hotline Bling," was the world's highest-grossing rapper in 2018.

He and Kendrick Lamar are currently involved in a publicized lyrical feud in which the rappers trade scathing "diss tracks."

Hip-hop, a genre renowned for its artists' boasts and sharply worded criticism of competitors, is no stranger to beefs.

There was no suggestion that the rap fight was connected in any way to the shooting.
