Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez is facing a lawsuit for sharing paparazzi photos of herself on social media without authorization. The legal action stems from images she posted on her X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts, taken during a high-profile Hollywood party.

According to a report by the BBC, photographer Edwin Blanco and his agency, Backgrid, are seeking $150,000 in damages per image, citing copyright infringement. The photos in question show Lopez arriving at the Amazon MGM Studios and Vanity Fair Party in Los Angeles on the eve of the Golden Globes in January.

Blanco and Backgrid argue that Lopez used the copyrighted images without securing permission or licensing rights. The photos, they claim, were shared to enhance her public image, increase social media engagement, and promote her fashion partnerships. In the images, Lopez wore a striking white dress with a matching faux fur coat, posing outside the Chateau Marmont. She captioned her post, “GG Weekend Glamour,” which quickly circulated across fan and fashion pages online.

The lawsuit alleges that Lopez’s use of the images was “commercial in nature,” intended to spotlight the designers of her outfit and jewelry and promote her personal brand and business affiliations.

This isn’t the first time Lopez has faced legal trouble over photo use. She was previously sued in 2019 and 2020 for similar copyright violations. Other celebrities, including Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, and Khloe Kardashian, have also faced lawsuits from paparazzi over unlicensed photo sharing.

According to the legal documents, the plaintiffs claim they attempted to reach an agreement with Lopez’s team for use of the images, but no deal was finalized.

The case once again highlights the ongoing tension between celebrities and paparazzi over image rights, even when the subject of the photo is the one sharing it.
