The nation has been grieving the passing of Gengetone producer Byron Muhando Kivisi under the leadership of President William Ruto.

The popular song Sipangwingwi, which was widely welcomed in the nation and used by the President during his campaigning for the 2022 elections, was written by the late Kivisi.

The President claimed in his message that Kivisi had introduced him to the musical sensation Xray during the production of the popular song Sipangwingwi at the Deputy President's house in Karen.

“I recall with fondness his calm and collected demeanour, but more importantly, his immense talent that made him an acclaimed music producer. It is disheartening that we have lost Byron at a prime age. We are comforted by the fact that his works of art will live on,” the President said through a message on the X platform.

Exray Taniu, a Sipangwingwi singer, also included the President in a remix released in August of last year. The President used this song to tell his opponents that he wasn't ready to be directed on what must be done to win the election.

The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) forbade the public from using the phrase days before the remix because it encouraged hate speech before the election.

The President and his team interpreted it as a show of defiance because they believed the previous administration was trying to prevent them from using the Sipangwingwi word to further their political ambitions.

Additionally, Trio Mio, who was a part of the original Sipangwingwi hit song, expressed their sorrow at the passing of their producer.

"Aiii Paapii! Together, we created magic. Still find it hard to believe, my G. Don't worry, King. Trio Mio wrote on his Instagram page, "Your job continues.

The funeral plans will likely be announced in due course by the late Kivisi's family.
